Vagad is the
region covered by Dungarpur & Banswara districts located in southern
part of the state Rajasthan across the borders of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. They have an
interesting topography, ranging from the wild and rugged in the northeast
to fertile plains of
alluvial soil in the
southwest. These two districts are separated from each other by the magnificent Mahi river. This
region was the stronghold of the Bhils and had its own unique lifestyles.
Outside influences were minimal, as the region was quite inaccessible.
Even today, this region does not fall in the regular tourist circuit but
should be explored for its natural scenic beauty. The area provide shelter
to the jackal, jungle cat, Indian fox, hyena,; black faced monkey and
porcupine.
This
area is ideal for those interested in outdoor life.The terrain is ideal
for walks and treks, you can spend your time studying the flora and fauna
that is unique to this area. This region is so different from the rest of
Rajasthan that it is like being in a different state.
About Mewar
Mewar is a region of south-central Rajasthan state in western India. It includes the
present-day districts of Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand and Udaipur. The
region was for centuries a Rajput kingdom that later became
a princely state under the British. It was ruled by the Guhilot and Sisodia dynasties
for over 1200 years.
The northern part of Mewar is a gently sloping plain, drained by the Banas
River and its tributaries, which empty northwest into the Chambal
River, a tributary of the Yamuna River. The southern
part of the region is hilly, and marks the divide between the Banas and its
tributaries and the headwaters of the Sabarmati and Mahi rivers and their tributaries, which drain south into the Gulf
of Cambay through Gujarat state. The Aravalli Range forms the
northwestern boundary of the region, composed mostly of sedimentary rocks, like marble and Kota
stone, which has traditionally been an important construction material. The Marwar region
lies across the Aravalli Range to the northwest, Gujarat and the Vagad region of Rajasthan lie to the south,
the Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh state lies
to the southeast, and the Hadoti region of Rajasthan lies
to the east.

All About The Trust - A Bird-Eye View
Building
Constructed in 1975 with funds raised from the public and situated on land within the precincts of the Mahatma Gandhi Government Hospital in the district headquarter town of Banswara in the southwest corner of the state of Rajasthan, India.
The building was to be used as a dharmshala to house patients and attendants arriving for treatment at the hospital.
Trust
The origianl purpose of the dharmshala was not achieved and the building became derelict. So in 2002 a public trust was formed to ensure the implementation of a functioning dharmshala which would provide housing, toilet, bathing and meals (all free of cost) to patients and attendents alike. So far all funding required has been raised from public donations.
The legal framework was completed on 19/09/02 by the founder trustee Shri Bharat Singh Ji (then Additional Superintendant of Police, Banswara). Activities commenced from 10/10/02 and all administrative work has been done under Shri Bharat Singh Ji's guidance.
